Flava Flavanone: Asymmetricconjugateadditions to chromones and 4‐quinolones are reported utilizing a single catalyst system formed in situ from Pd(OCOCF3)2 and (S)‐tBuPyOX. Notably, these reactions are performed in wet solvent under ambient atmosphere, and employ readily available arylboronicacids as the nucleophile, thus providing ready access to these asymmetric heterocycles (see scheme).

Although imines are convenient substrates for the synthesis of functionalized amines, they may be hard to obtain, as in the case of fluorinatedimines. To aid in overcoming this issue, we propose a protocol of corresponding amine synthesis from simple fluoroacetic acid-derived amides using Schwartz's reagent.

Abstract Trifluoroacetamides were prepared readily by reaction of sodium trifluoroacetate with triphenylphosphine di-iodide and amines consecutively under mild conditions with good yields.
