  Prolonged heating of the perfluoro-alpha-lactam (CF3)(2)C(CO)(NC(CF3)(3)) (I) at 110-150 degrees C gives a mixture of isocyanate (CF3)(3)C-C(CF3)(2)NCO (V) (as the main product), acylimine (CF3)(2)C=N-C(O)C(CF3)(3) (III), (CF3)(3)C-C(CF3)(3) (VI) and other products. A radical mechanism is proposed for the reaction.
