  (EN) N,N'-disubstituted-amidines, e.g., of formula (I), wherein R, R' and R' are substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon and/or heterocyclic groups. Methods are provided for the treatment or prophylaxis of anxiety in an animal, for treating psychosis, and for treating hypertension by administering an effective amount of an N,N'-disubstituted amidine which, preferably, has a high affinity for the sigma receptor.(FR) Amidines N,N'-bisubstituées, par exemple de la formule (I), dans laquelle R, R', et R' représentent des groupes d'hydrocarbures et/ou des groupes hétérocycliques substitués ou non substitués. On décrit aussi des méthodes de traitement ou de prophylaxie de l'angoisse chez l'animal, de traitement de la psychose, et de traitement de l'hypertension consistant à administrer une quantité efficace d'amidine N,N'-bisubstituée ayant de préférence une forte affinité avec le récepteur sigma.
