This disclosure describes certain hydroxy substituted 15-deoxy-5-cis-prostenoic acids and esters useful as hypotensive agents, anti-ulcer agents, bronchodilators, anti-microbial agents, anticonvulsants, or as intermediates.
herein is the development of a simple but practical catalytic system for the selective reduction of amides with hydrosilane or hydrosiloxane. Low-cost and readily available triethylborane (1.0 M in THF), in combination with a catalytic amount of an alkali metal base, was found to catalyze the reduction of all three amide classes (tertiary, secondary, and primary amides) to form amines under mild conditions

The Ru-catalyzed intramolecular [5+2] cycloaddition of cyclopropylenynes is investigated with respect to the regio- and diastereoselectivity as well as the functional group compatibility of the reaction. Evidence for the mechanism as occurring through a ruthenacyclopentene intermediate is elucidated from 1) the study of the diastereoselectivity of the cycloaddition; 2) the effect of variation of substituents
Various branched alkylcarbenes have been generated by alkaline decomposition of the corresponding tosylhydrazones. The intramolecular insertion reactions of these carbenes (formation of cyclopropanes) proceed with appreciable discrimination which depends strongly on steric effects. The product ratios are consistently explained by a transition state with approximately planar (eclipsed) configuration
Novel mono- and dialkylated prostynoic acid derivatives, prepared by condensation of a suitably substituted cyclopentene carboxylic acid or ester with a suitable organometallic alkynyl derivative, display valuable pharmacological properties. For example, they are potent inhibitors of gastric secretion.
