The reaction between the platinacyclobutanes [PtX2(CH2CRR′CH2)L2] (X Cl, Br; L C5H5N, 4-CH3C5H4N; R, R′ H, CH3; R H, R′ CH3, C6H5) and iodide and thiocyanateions in methyl cyanide solution has been studied. The C3 moiety is eliminated as the cyclopropane and the process is first order with respect to the platinacyclobutanes and zero to half order with respect to the salt (MY). With the iodides
