Redox-neutral decarboxylative photocyclization of anthranilic acids

photoredox neutral system has been found to efficiently enable intramolecular decarboxylative cyclization of anthranilicacids. This facile protocol provides an alternative method for the synthesis of carbazoles. Mechanistic studies reveal a key photoinduced 6π-electrocyclization process and formic acid was released as the sole byproduct.

A simple and efficient methodology for the synthesis of triphenylamines has been demonstrated using copper catalyst with a ligand and tripotassium phosphate as the base. required trisamine is prepared starting from diphenylamine and 2-bromobenzoic acid methylester. Upon coordination of titanium(IV) ions the tetrahedral M 4 L 4 coordination compound is obtained, which due to the symmetry breaking substituent exists as a mixture of isomers.
