7-tetrahydro-1-benzothiophene-3-carboxylate which was treated with a series of acid chlorides to obtain the corresponding 2-amido derivatives. Condensation of the latter with hydrazine hydrate gave new fused benzothienopyrimidines. The synthesized compounds were screened for antioxidant activity.

was synthesized by the Gewald reaction of 2-acetyl-1,4-benzodioxane with ethyl 2-cyanoacetate and sulfur in the presence of diethylamine. The product was used to synthesize a series of amido ester derivatives with various pharmacophoric fragments. The antihypoxic properties of the synthesized amido esters were investigated.
