The present invention provides an isocyanate composition including an adduct of a multifunctional isocyanate compound having two or more isocyanate groups in the molecule thereof with a polymer obtained by radically polymerizing in the presence of a chain transfer agent having active hydrogen at least a vinyl monomer including a polymerizable compound having a polyether represented by the following Formula (I):

A recording material contains an electron donating leuco dye and, as an electron accepting compound, a salicylic acid derivative having an alkyl group, an alkoxy group or an aryloxy group as a substituent or a metal salt thereof. The recording material has good color developability, working preservability and stability.

Heat-sensitive recording materials contain an electron-donating chromogenic compound and an electron-attracting compound. The recording materials also contain at least one compound represented by the following formula:
wherein R₁ and R₃ mean a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, aralkyl or aryl group, R₂ and R₄ denote an alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl or aryl group, X₁, X₂, Y₁ and Y₂ stand for an oxygen or a sulfur atom, and -Z₁- and -Z₂- are a specific aromatic group. Also provided are phenol compounds represented by the following formula:

The near infrared absorber and the recorded image on the recording material absorb strongly the near infrared region with no appreciable absorption in the visible region of the spectrum. The near infrared absorber is colorless or pale in color and yet highly capable of absorbing near infrared radiation. The recorded image on the recording material can hardly be read with the eye but can be read with the OCR. Moreover, the effect on the developed shade of any concomitant color former in a recording material is minimal.
Disclosed is adhesive recording paper having an image-forming layer on one surface of a substrate, and having an adhesive layer and a stripping sheet in that order on the other surface thereof, wherein the ratio, Nmax/Nmin, of the maximum stripping force (Nmax) to the minimum stripping force (Nmin) needed for separating the stripping sheet from the adhesive layer at a service temperature is at most 3.5, preferably at most 2.0.
