A series of naftifine analogues having the biphenyl instead of the naphthyl moiety have been synthesized in a search devoted to study bioanalogues of clinically efficacious antifungal agents. The new derivatives were tested against Candida albicans by the direct contact method. They were also assayed against Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria and against some isolates of plant pathogenic fungi
