Abstract Bismuth(III) and antimony(III) tris(monothiocarbamate), M(SOCNR2)3 (where NR2 = N(CH2CH3)2 or NC4H4), and bismuth(III) tris(monothioacetylacetonate), Bi(CH3CSCHCOCH3)3, have been synthesized and studied. Two new monothiocarbamate ligands have been prepared and their coordinationchemistry has been investigated. Potassium pyrrole-N-carbothioate, prepared from potassium pyrrolate and COS, is a white, air sensitive solid which reacts with NiBr2 and PdBr2 to yield 2:1 ligand to metal compounds.
