The synthesis of several 1-substituted functional derivatives 3-πC5H5FeIIIπ-1,2-C2B9H10-1-R (R = CH2OH, CHO, COOH, COCH3, CH2COOH, etc.) is reported. Reactions of these compounds have been investigated. The 3-π-C5H5FeIIIπ-1,2-C2B9H10-1-group was found to show pronounced electron-withdrawing properties (σi +0.31).
