Oxidation of hydrazones of aliphatic ketones by a Co(salen)-dioxygen system in dichloromethane results in oxidative denitrogenation of the hydrazones to give new 1-alkenylcobalt(III) complexes. Treatment of the alkenyl complexes with sodium borohydride gives the corresponding cis-olefins.
