Tetramethylchloroformamidinium chloride reacts with 2 mol equivalents of tetramethylammonium fluoride to give bis(dimethylamino)difluoromethane (1). The treating of 1 with dimethylaminotrimethylsilane in acetonitrile yields quantitatively hexamethylguanidinium fluoride (2).
