ESR study of magnetic homogeneity in La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 thin films

Results of an electron spin resonance study on La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 thin films prepared by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and chemical solution deposition (CSD) are reported here. The g-value near T-C suggests the existence of spin-clusters in the paramagnetic state. A single ferromagnetic resonance line observed in the PLD film reveals that it is magnetically homogeneous, whereas a second line, perhaps due to a coexisting phase, is observed in the CSD film below T-C. The deviation in the value of the magnetization calculated from the resonance field of the CSD film also shows that the ferromagnetic state of the CSD film is inhomogeneous compared to that of the PLD film. The temperature dependence of ferromagnetic resonance line width follows the magnetization of the thin films. (C) 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
