Electrochemical fluorination (ECF) of the ester derivatives of oxolane-2-yl-carboxylic acid (1), oxolane-2-yl-methanol (2) and oxane-2-yl-methanol (3) were investigated. Perfluoro(oxolane-2-yl-carbonylfluoride) (4) was obtained from derivatives of 1 and 2, and perfluoro(oxane-2-yl-carbonylfluoride) (5) was obtained from derivatives of 3 as the desired compounds, respectively. From the ECF of acetates
treating these mixture with anhydrousaluminumchloride at 150 /sR 160 °C during /sR 48 hrs in order to convert the latter into the easy-separable perfluoro(2,5,5- trichloro-2-alkyloxolane)s. Small quantities of new perfluoro(5,5-dichloroalkanoyl chloride)s were also among the chlorination products. octafluorooxalane, C4F8O, to C2F4 + CF2 + COF2 has been studied in shockwaves highly diluted in Ar between 1300 and 2200 K. The primary dissociation was shown to be followed by secondary dissociation of C2F4 and dimerization of CF2. An oxygen-containing cyclicfluoro compound selected from the group consisting of a perfluorolactone having the formula ##STR1## a perfluorocyclic ether having the formula ##STR2## and mixtures thereof is produced by reacting an .alpha.,.omega.-diiodoperfluoroalkane having the formula I (CF.sub.2).sub.n I with fuming sulfuric acid, wherein n is all formulas ranges from 3 to 5.
