  Light sensitive layers in photographic elements are protected against exposure to radiation in the blue region of the visible spectrum by a yellow filter dye having the structure: ##STR1## where: R.sup.1 is alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms; R.sup.2 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms; R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are each individually alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, at least one of which is terminated with ##STR2## and R.sup.5 is alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms or fluoroalkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms.
