  [EN] This invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for mammals and, more particularly, to a pharmaceutical composition which enhances the action of an anaesthetic used in both human and veterinary applications, which, at least partly, reduces the risk of respiratory depression and enhances pulmonary perfusion. The pharmaceutical composition is characterised in that it contains a serotonergic ligand or any pharmacologically acceptable salt or ester thereof which acts on at least one member of the 5-HT family of serotonergic receptors, preferably on one or more of the 5-HTiA, 5-HT4 and 5-HT7 serotonergic receptors. In an example the ligand is the 8-OH-DPAT ligand. The composition can be used in conjunction with or include an anaesthetic, preferably an opioid anaesthetic, to induce a state of anaesthesia in mammals and it can be used to immobilise wile or non-domestic mammals.
  [FR] L'invention concerne une composition pharmaceutique pour des mammifères et, en particulier, une composition pharmaceutique qui améliore l'action d'un anesthésique utilisé à la fois dans des applications humaines et vétérinaires, qui, au moins en partie, réduit le risque d'insuffisance respiratoire et améliore la perfusion pulmonaire. La composition pharmaceutique de l'invention est caractérisée en ce qu'elle contient un ligand sérotonergique ou tout autre sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable ou un de leurs esters qui agissent sur au moins un élément de la famille 5-HT des récepteurs sérotonergiques, de préférence sur un ou plusieurs récepteurs sérotonergiques 5-HTiA, 5-HT4 et 5-HT7. Dans un mode de réalisation, le ligand est un ligand 8-OH-DPAT. La composition peut comprendre un anesthésique ou être utilisée en association avec un ou plusieurs anesthésiques, de préférence un anesthésique opioïde, ce qui permet d'induire un état d'anesthésie chez les mammifères et la composition de l'invention peut être utilisée pour immobiliser des mammifères domestiques ou sauvages.
