    An inkjet recording sheet comprising a support and, on a surface of the support, a colorant-receiving layer formed by applying a first coating liquid, adding a second coating liquid, after application of the first coating liquid and before the same shows a decreasing rate of drying, and thereafter hardening and drying the coat layer to form a porous structure. The first coating liquid has a pH value of 5 or lower, and is obtained by adding a solution which includes polyvinyl alcohol, a nonionic surfactant and/or amphoteric surfactant and a high boiling point organic solvent, to a dispersion including a cationic resin and vapor-phase-process silica having a specific surface area of at least 200 m2/g as measured by the BET method. The second coating liquid has a pH value of 8.5 or higher and includes a cross-linking agent capable of cross-linking the polyvinyl alcohol, an organic mordant and a nonionic surfactant.

    A sheet for ink jet recording that stably holds an image printed thereon without image bleeding even if the sheet is stored in a hot and humid environment for a long period of time, that has excellent resistance to ozone and prevents the recorded image from becoming discolored through time, and that has excellent resistance to light in image portions. The sheet for ink jet recording includes at least one water-soluble compound whose basic skeleton has an ionization energy of 7.0 to 9.0 eV. The water-soluble compound preferably includes at least one of a hydroxyl group, a carboxyl group, and a sulfonic group in a molecule, and/or preferably has an I/O value of no less than 0.5.

    Provided are a new cationic polymer and an inkjet recording sheet exhibiting a superior printing density of an image without lowering ink receptivity. (1) A cationic polymer represented by the following general formula (A): wherein X1, X2 and X3: a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, or an aryloxy group; R1: a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; R2, R3 and R4: a hydrogen atom, or an alkyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, an aryl group or an aralkyl group; Z: -O- or -NH-; Y2: a bivalent linking group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, which may have therein a linking heteroatom; and x : an anion. (2) An inkjet recording sheet, that has, on a substrate, a colorant-accepting layer containing cationic polymer modified inorganic pigment particles.

    An inkjet recording method of forming an image on an inkjet recording sheet that has, on a support, a colorant-receiving layer which contains at least one inorganic mordant, by using an inkjet recording ink set that comprises, as minimum constituent elements thereof, a yellow ink which contains at least one yellow dye, a magenta ink which contains at least one magenta dye and a cyan ink which contains at least one cyan dye, wherein an oxidation potential of the magenta dye and an oxidation potential of the cyan dye are each nobler than 0.8 V (vs SCE).

    The present invention provides an ink-jet recording sheet having a coloring agent accepting layer which contains a dispersion containing a cationic polymer with an average molecular weight of 60,000 or lower and having a sulfate ion concentration of 1.5% by mass or lower to the cationic polymer together with a water-soluble resin; an particle dispersion obtained by further granulating a pre-dispersion obtained by pre-dispersing a solution containing at least fine particles and a cationic polymer and the pre-dispersion and/or the particle dispersion is heated at room temperature for 5 hours or longer after pre-dispersion and/or after granulating; and a coating solution for coloring agent accepting layer obtained by adding a water-soluble resin to the particle dispersion.
