The oxidative degradation of fragrant aldehydes by molecular oxygen has been investigated. The oxygen consumption was monitored and the bond dissociation energy (BDE) of the aldehyde C(O)–H bond were calculated by DFT method. The oxidation products were identified by GC/MS.
