Deconjugative protonation of trienolates from (E,E)-2,4-tetradecadienoates gives (E,Z)-3,5-tetradecanoates which is hydrolyzed to give Megatomoic acid, a sex pheromone for a black carpet beetle Attagenus megatoma.
