[2+3] Amide Cages by Oxidation of [2+3] Imine Cages – Revisiting Molecular Hosts for Highly Efficient Nitrate Binding

A series of second generation amidecages were synthesized in high yields by converting iminecages by Pinnick oxidation reactions. By NMR titration experiments, one amidecage was identified having superior selectivities of nitrate vs. chloride (S=705) or hydrogensulfate (S >13400) in combination with high association constants for nitrate.
