In the case of aryl- or silylcarbene complexes of tungsten, the anion radical species generated by one-electron reduction smoothly underwent addition reaction to ethyl acrylate. One-electron reduction of alpha,beta-unsaturated carbene complexes afforded biscarbene complexes by dimerization of the corresponding
