We have developed a new conjugate additionâelimination sequence for the diastereoselective synthesis of protected allylic syn 1,3-diols which are MoritaâBaylisâHillman adducts. The synthesis of the substrates involves a challenging cross-metathesis reaction that leads to hindered trisubstituted olefins.
