A class of new ionic liquid (IL)‐based nonaqueous lyotropic liquid crystals (LLCs) and the development of an efficient IL extraction process based on LC chemistry are reported. The nonaqueous LLCs feature extraordinarily high extraction capacity, excellent separation selectivity, easy recovery, and biocompatibility.
