An efficient synthesis of Nω-[18F]fluoroacetylserotonin (Nω-[18F]fluoroacetyl-5-hydroxytryptamine)

A rapid synthesis of Nω-[18F]fluoroacetylserotonin (Nω-[18F]fluoroacetyl-5-hydroxytryptamine) starting from [18F]fluoride and ethyl p-toluensulfonyloxyacetate is described. The total time required for its synthesis is ca. 90 min. The radiochemical yield, purity, and specific activity (end of bombardment) of the desired hormone are 13.5%, >98%, and 600 mCi/μmol, respectively.
