  Novel fluorine-containing carboxylic acid compounds of formula (II) are provided that can be reacted together with a base to produce industrially useful 3-(2-chloro-2-fluorovinyl)-2,2-dimethyl cyclopropanecarboxylic acid compounds of formula (I).
