imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines using p-tosylchloride as a benign source of sulfenylating agents has been developed. On the other hand, p-tosylchloride mediated thiomethylation of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines with dimethylsulfoxide as a source of thiomethylation under metal-free conditions was also described.

The first examples of visible‐lightinduced direct sulfur dioxide insertion on imidazoheterocycles have been developed using an organic photoredox catalyst at room temperature and DABCO·(SO2)2. Exploring the unexpected reactivity of DABCO‐bis(sulfur dioxide) on various imidazo[1,2‐a]pyridines expanded the toolbox of the sulfenylation reagent. Starting from three simple building blocks, this three‐component transformation led to various C‐3 sulfenylated substituted imidazo[1,2‐a]pyridines in moderate to good yields.
