A novel rearrangement of S-(2-aminoethyl) thiophosphates to N-(2-mercaptoethyl)phosphoramidates was discovered and developed. The reaction proceeds smoothly at room temperature under basic conditions and the resulting thiol could subsequently be alkylated.
