Organic Dye-Catalyzed Atom Transfer Radical Addition–Elimination (ATRE) Reaction for the Synthesis of Perfluoroalkylated Alkenes
An atom transfer radical addition elimination (ATRE) reaction of terminal alkenes with perfluoroalkyl halides under visible light is described. The photoredox catalysis with Eosin Y provides perfluoroalkenes in good yields. The reaction has been utilized for the late stage perfluoroalkenylation of an estrone-derived alkene.

An efficient chemoselective 1,2-bis(trifluoromethylation) of alkenes with CF3SO2Na promoted by t-BuOOH/CuCl was developed. This protocol provided the first convenient preparation of 1,2-bis(trifluoromethylated) compounds by the vicinal difunctionalization of alkenes. The chemoselectivity of this reaction was accomplished by increasing the concentration of the CF3 radical.

three-component hydro-, bromo-, and chloroheptafluoroisopropylation of unactivatedalkenes are disclosed. In these reactions, the CF(CF3)2 radical was generated from the oxidation of AgCF(CF3)2. Then the addition of this perfluorinated radical to alkenes, followed by hydrogenation, bromination, or chlorination, gave the corresponding difunctionalizedCF(CF3)2-containing products in high yields.
