A rhodium-catalyzed cycloisomerization reaction of N-tethered 1,6-enynes with an intramolecular halogen shift has been developed, providing a useful process for the synthesis of stereo defined gamma-butyrolactam and pyrrolidine derivatives in good to excellent yields.
