  在四氢呋喃中，用α，β-不饱和酯，即丙烯酸甲酯，（E）-巴豆酸甲酯，富马酸二乙酯，马来酸二乙酯和丙酸乙酯处理3-甲基氨基-5-苯基噻吩，回流几天，得到1-甲基- 3，4-二氢噻吩并[2，3- e ]吡啶-2-酮4和/或1-甲基噻吩并[2，3 - e ]吡啶-2-酮5，取决于酯的结构。另一方面，与α，β-不饱和腈（如丙烯腈和四氰基乙烯）的相同反应，得到相应的噻吩7和10在C-2上分别带有2-氰基乙基和1,2,2-三氰基乙烯基。在相同条件下与（Z）-1,2-二氰基乙烯的反应产生相应的带有1，2-二氰基乙烯基和1，2-二氰基-5-甲基氨基联苯的噻吩9。
