asymmetric allylation of ketones. The catalyst showed good activity and excellent enantioselectivity, typically matching the results obtained in the corresponding homogeneous reaction. The allylation reaction mixture could be submitted to epoxidation by simple treatment with tert‐butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP), and the tandem asymmetricallylation epoxidation process led to a highly enantioenriched epoxy alcohol

Giving it a boost: A mechanistic study of the enantioselective asymmetric titled reaction with allyldiisopropoxyborane catalyzed by chiralbiphenols revealed a key ligand exchange process which liberates isopropyl alcohol. The addition of iPrOH to the reaction increases the overall rate and enantioselectivity. As a result an improved reaction, employing allyldioxaborinane with 1 and tBuOH, resulted

Chiral BINOL-derived diols catalyze the enantioselective asymmetricallylboration of ketones. The reaction requires 15 mol % of 3,3‘-Br2-BINOL as the catalyst and allyldiisopropoxyborane as the nucleophile. The reaction products are obtained in good yields (76−93%) and high enantiomeric ratios (95:5−99.5:0.5). High diastereoselectivities (dr ≥ 98:2) and enantioselectivities (er ≥ 98:2) are obtained

catalytic additions of easy‐to‐handle allyl‐B(pin) (pin=pinacolato) compounds to ketones and acyclic α‐ketoesters was developed. Accordingly, a large array of tertiary alcohols can be obtained in 60 to >98 % yield and up to 99:1 enantiomeric ratio. At the heart of this development is rational alteration of the structures of the small‐molecule aminophenol‐based catalysts. Notably, with ketones, increasing

[reaction: see text] A chiral indium complex has been discovered to effect high enantioselectivities in the addition of allyltributylstannanes to ketones. The allylation of a variety of aromatic, alpha,beta-unsaturated and aliphatic ketones resulted in good yields and high enantioselectivities (up to 92% ee).
