Polyoxyalkylene surfactants for cellular foams can be prepared by reacting by free radical addition polymerization a polyoxyalkylene adduct, a cyclic nitrogenous vinyl monomer and an esterified unsaturated dibasic acid, obtaining a reaction product usable as a surfactant in the formation of phenolic foams, said reaction product comprising a major component useful for said phenolic foams and a minor component useful as a surfactant in the formation of isocyanurate foams, and separating said major and minor components by any conventional method.
