  [EN] 1-[4-(4'-sulfanilyl)phenyl]urea and its various substituted derivatives can be used to decrease the infectiousness of and reduce the mortality associated with organisms of the Subkingdom Protozoa, Phylum 1, Class Zoomastigophoria, which contains the genera Trypanosoma, Giardia, Trichromona and specifically the genus Leishmania which are responsible for a group of conditions known as Leishmaniasis. This heretofore unrecognized use extends to the known derivatives of ureidodiaminodiphenylsulfones and includes the novel aryl-ring hydroxylated series of sulfaniylphenylureas of formula (I) wherein m and n can be the same or different and may each = 0 or 1, R<1>, R<2>, R<3>, R<4>, R<5> and R<6> are the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydroxyl, halo, C1 to C6 straight or branch chain alkyl, halo alkyl, polyhalo alkyl, alkoxy, cyano, amino, alkanoylamino, alkoxycarbonylamin carboxy, alkoxycarbonyl, carbamoyl, acyl, R<7>, and R<8> are the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, and C1 to C6 straight or branch chain alkyl, Z is amino, acylamino, alkoxycarbonylamino, alkoxyalkylcarbonylamino, alkylamino, substituted amino or nitro; or its pharmaceutically acceptable salts. There are disclosed prophylactic compositions for this purpose.
  [FR] La 1-[4-(4'-sulfanilyl)phényl]urée et ses différents dérivés par substitution peuvent être utilisés pour diminuer la contagion et réduire la mortalité liées aux organismes du sous-règne des protozoaires, Phylum 1, classe Zoomastigophoria, qui contient les genres Trypanosoma, Giardia, Trichromona et notamment le genre Leishmania, responsable d'un ensemble d'états connus sous le nom de Leishmaniose. Cet usage non reconnu jusqu'à présent s'étend aux dérivés connus d'uréidodiaminodiphénylsulfones et comprend la nouvelle série à noyau aryle hydroxylée des sulfanilylphénylurées de formule (I), dans laquelle m et n peuvent être identiques ou différents, et peuvent être égaux à 0 ou 1, R<1>, R<2>, R<3>, R<4>, R<5> et R<6> sont identiques ou différents et sont choisis dans le groupe constitué par hydrogène, hydroxyle, halo, alkyle à chaîne droite ou ramifiée en C1-C6, haloalkyle, polyhalo alkyle, alcoxy, cyano, amino, alcanoylamino, alcoxycarbonylamine carboxy, alcoxycarbonyle, carbamoyle, acyle, R<7> et R<8> sont identiques ou différents et sont choisis dans le groupe constitué par hydrogène et alkyle à chaîne droite ou ramifiée en C1-C6, Z est amino, acyclamino, alcoxycarbonylamino, alcoxyalkylcarbonylamino, alkylamino, amine substitué ou nitro.
