    Fungicidal compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.3 is hydrogen, R.sub.4 is phenyl optionally substituted with one halogen, and R.sub.5 is alkyl having up to 5 carbon atoms, alkenyl having up to 5 carbon atoms, alkynyl having up to 5 carbon atoms or monochlorophenoxymethyl or R.sub.5 is benzyl optionally ring substituted with up to three substituents selected from the class consisting of halogen, alkyl having up to 4 carbon atoms and alkoxy having up to 4 carbon atoms, or a fungicidal acid salt of such a compound.

  • Phototransformation of Triadimefon on Glass and Soil Surfaces

    Photodegradation of triadimefon has been studied on glass and soil surfaces. A number of photoproducts have been isolated and characterised by NMR, IR and MS. Photolysis resulted in considerable amounts of 1-(4-chlorophenoxymethyl)-1,2,4-triazole, 1-(4-chlorophenoxy)-2,2-dimethyl- 1-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)propane, 1-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)-3,3-dimethylbutan-2-one and 1-(4-chlorophenoxy)-3,3-dimethyl-1-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)butan-2-ol. Rates of photodegradation on glass and soil surfaces under UV and sunlight followed first-order kinetics with a significant correlation coefficient. Photodegradation was greater on alluvial soil than on laterite soil.

    Fungicidal compounds of the general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, which may be the same or different, is hydrogen, halogen, nitro or alkyl (e.g. methyl, ethyl, propyl or butyl); R.sub.3 is hydrogen, alkoxycarbonyl (e.g. methoxy or ethoxy-carbonyl) or substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl or hydrocarboxyloxy, R.sub.4 is phenyl or halophenyl, R.sub.5 is hydrogen, alkanoyl (e.g. acetyl or propionyl) or substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl, n is 0 or 1, R.sub.5 being substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl when n is 0 and R.sub.3 being other than substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl when n is 1; or salts of such compounds.
