  Eine Farbstoffzubereitung besteht aus einem wasserlöslichen sauren Farbstoff und einem wasserunlöslichen basischen Träger für den sauren Farbstoff. Der Träger besteht aus vernetzten Polymerteilchen mit einem mittleren Teilchendurchmesser kleiner als 1 µm und einem Gehalt an quaternären Ammonium- oder Phosphoniumgruppen von mindestens 2 mVal/g. Der Farbstoff ist in einer lonenaustauschreaktion auf die Polymerteilchen aufgezogen. Das so behandelte Polymerisat läßt sich leicht isolieren, lagern und wieder redispergieren unter Bildung von Farbstoff-Polymer-Latices und eignet sich für die Herstellung gefärbter Schichten, z.B. in fotografischen Aufzeichnungsmaterialien.
