Synthesis of Diazanorcaradienes and 1,2-Diazepines via the Tandem [4+2]-Cycloaddition/Retro-[4+2]-Cycloaddition Reaction between Methoxycarbonylcyclopropenes and Dimethoxycarbonyltetrazine

Methyl cyclopropenecarboxylates and dimethoxycarbonyltetrazine undergo cascade cycloaddition and retro‐cycloaddition reactions. Depending on substituents in cyclopropenes the reaction either leads to diazanorcaradienes or is accompanied with an electrocyclic ring‐opening and a proton migration or a “walk” rearrangement.
