Synthesis of α,β-Dicarbonylhydrazones by Aerobic Manganese-Catalysed Oxidation

practical, simple, and efficient manganese‐catalysed oxidation of C(sp2)−H bond in readilyavailable β‐carbonylenehydrazine under aerobic conditions has been developed. This protocol exhibits a wide range of functional group tolerance in β‐carbonylenehydrazines to afford α,β‐dicarbonylhydrazones. Experimental and theoretical results suggest that the reaction very likely proceeds through a radical pathway
The acid catalyzed reactions of three arylhydrazines with 4-phenyl-3-butynone in order to obtain the corresponding arylhydrazone were realized. The arylhydrazone reaction and an unexpected alkyne hydration reaction product were obtained when diphenylhydrazine was used. This product was identified by spectroscopic methods and X-ray diffractogram. A reaction mechanism is proposed for its formation.
