We report herein a visiblelightinduced generation of a carbanion via double-SET and its application in cyclopropanation of alkenes. This new synthetic approach to form cyclopropane derivatives was conducted under mild conditions, using sunlight in open air, showing the features such as environmental benignness and an easy to handle procedure.
Various 1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives were efficiently synthesized from arylidenemalononitriles and β-enamino imides using DBU (3 mol%) as the catalyst at room temperature. This mild, straightforward high-yielding protocol was atom-economy, time-economy, with a low catalyst load, and without the need for reflux.

benzoxazinanones undergo highlyenantioselective decarboxylative cycloadditions with electron-deficient olefins in the presence of palladium catalysts. Palladium induces the decarboxylation of the parent benzoxazinanones under mild conditions to produce an intermediate that can be described as a polarized aza-o-xylylene. These intermediates undergo a formal [4 + 2] cycloaddition with good Michael acceptors
