Synthesis and characterization of copper(II) complexes containing tridentate modified amino acid ligands, [CuL(H2O)(Pyz)] [L={(3,5-di-tert-butyl-2 hydroxybenzyl)amino}acetic acid and S(−)2-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxy-benzylamino)-3-methyl-butyric acid; Pyz=pyrazole] and their oxidation to a copper(III) coordinated phenoxyl radical
Two new ternary copper complexes, [CuL1(H2O) (Pyz)] (1) [(LH2)-H-1 = 1(3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxybenzyl)amino } acetic acid] and [CuL2(H2O) (Pyz)] (2) [L-2 H-2 = 2-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxy-benzylamino)-3-methyl-butyric acid; Pyz = pyrazole] have been synthesized. The compounds have been characterized by various techniques including IR, LN-visible, circular dichroism (CD) (2) and EPR spectroscopy, electrochemical and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The crystal structure of 1 has been determined. The compound crystallizes in the space group P2(1)/a, with a = 10.6217(2) angstrom, b = 10.1645(2) angstrom, c = 19.4909(5) angstrom, 90.7729(9)degrees, V= 2104.13(8) angstrom(3) Z = 4. Cyclic voltammetry of the compounds show two reversible oxidative peaks due to metal centered and ligand centered oxidations. The compounds have been oxidized electrochemically and chemically and the oxidized species have been characterized by UV-visible and EPR spectroscopy. (c) 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
Self‐Assembly of an Alkali Metal Cluster Stabilized by a New Flexidentate Metalloligand: Formation and Structure of Heterobimetallic Na–Mo and Cs–Mo 2D Networks
A new tridentate ligand, (3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxybenzyl)amino}acetic acid, has been synthesized. This ligand forms [Na4(H2O)4(μ-H2O)2}(Mo2O5L2)2] (1), which contains an Na44+ cluster cation stabilized by [LMoO2(μ-O)MoO2L]2–, upon reaction with Na2MoO4 in aqueous methanol. This compound has been characterized by various spectroscopic techniques and crystallizes in the triclinic space group P.
