Reaction of the alkynylphosphine oxide Ph2P(O)CCBut with square-pyramidal nido-Ru4(CO)13(µ3-PR)(1a, R = Ph; 1b, R = NPri2) affords a novel example of PâO bond synthesis to yield the ligands Ph2POPR, coordinated on a triangular face of the clusters Ru4(CO)8(µ-CO)(µ3-η2-CCBut)[µ3-η2-PPh2(OPPh)](2a, R = Ph; 2b, R = NPri2).
