AbstractHerein, we describe a Pd-catalyzed arylation of 1,2-amino alcohols with aryl halides enabled by a retroallylation manifold. This protocol constitutes a new entry point to β-arylated aldehydes via the intermediacy of in situ generated enamine intermediates. The protocol is characterized by its exquisite regioselectivity profile and broad substrate scope – including challenging substrate combinations
Synthesis of β-heteroaryl carbonyl compounds via direct cross-coupling of allyl alcohols with heteroaryl boronic acids under cooperative bimetallic catalysis
The eco-friendly cooperative Cu/Pd-catalyzed oxidative Heck reaction of allyl alcohols with heteroaryl boronic acidsunder air was described. The ready availability of starting materials and the mild reaction conditions made this protocol a safe and operationally convenient strategy for the efficient synthesis of β-heteroaryl carbonyl compounds.
Rh-catalyzed hydroformylation of 2-arylpropenes becomes available using an unprecedented PNP ligand. The protocol provides a powerful strategy to access a wide library of 3-aryl-butyraldehydes with excellent selectivity and scalability. A concise total synthesis of rac-ar-turmerone is also pursued to demonstrate the practical nature of this protocol.

An efficient and versatile synthesis of 3-[1-(3-pyridyl)ethyl]indoles is described; these compounds are important starting materials for the synthesis of ring-A substituted ellipticines.
Pharmaceutical compositions include aryl substituted amine compounds, and in particular, carbon-linked aromatic azabicyclo compounds, and in particular, aromatic alkylene azabicyclo compounds and aromatic alkyl azabicyclo compounds.
