  In one aspect an aerosol-generating device comprising a smoking article and a heat source is described.   This disclosure relates to biting arthropod control or repellent formulations for the control or repellency of biting arthropods. The formulations comprise at least one sensate compound, wherein the at least one sensate compound is present in an effective amount sufficient to control or repel biting arthropods. This disclosure also relates to a method for the control or repellency of biting arthropods. The method comprises bringing the biting arthropods into contact with a biting arthropod control or repellent formulation.   This disclosure provides a method for the control or repellency of biting arthropods. The method comprises bringing the biting arthropods into contact with a synergistic biting arthropod control or repellent formulation. The synergistic biting arthropod control or repellent formulation comprises:(I) at least one compound (a) selected from the group consisting of: (1) alkyl ketones and cyclic ketones, saturated or unsaturated, branched or unbranched, containing from about 6 to about 18 carbon atoms, or any range of carbon atoms within said range; (2) compounds of a defined structure (A); (3) branched or unbranched, straight chain or cyclic, saturated or unsaturated, carboxylic acids containing from about 3 to about 18 carbon atoms or any range of carbon atoms within said range, including isomers thereof; and (4) esters of branched or unbranched, straight chain or cyclic, saturated or unsaturated, carboxylic acids containing from about 3 to about 18 carbon atoms or any range of carbon atoms within said range, including isomers thereof; and (II) at least one sensate compound. This disclosure also provides synergistic biting arthropod control or repellent formulations.
