  Synthesis of several new tetracyclic heteroaromatic chromans has been achieved through the reaction of various uracil and 1,3-thiazine derivatives with 1,2-naphthoquinone-1-methide. The spirodimer 4 is a better source of naphthoquinone methide than the naphthol derivatives which provide chromans in low yield due to side reactions.
