[GRAPHIC]Reaction of an enyne (1,1-diphenyl-pent-1-ene-3-yne) with a preheated mixture of Mo(CO)(6)/4-chlorophenol/3-hexyne at 130 degreesC furnished 1,1,6,6-tetraphenylhex-1,5-diene-3-yne in an 80% yield. If the starting material was heated with a mixture Of MO(CO)6 and 4-chlorophenol under identical conditions, no reaction was observed.

Polymers, monomers, narrow-band absorbing polymers, narrow-band absorbing monomers, absorbing units, polymer dots, and related methods are provided. Bright, luminescent polymer nanoparticles with narrow-band absorptions are provided. Methods for synthesizing absorbing monomers, methods for synthesizing the polymers, preparation methods for forming the polymer nanoparticles, and applications for using the polymer nanoparticles are also provided.
Progressive Direct Iodination of Sterically Hindered Alkyl Substituted Benzenes

Benzene derivatives bearing at least one bulky alkyl group (i-Pr or t-Bu) were selectively and effectively iodinated using elemental iodine activated by 1-(chloromethyl)-4-fluoro-1,4-diazoniabicyclo[2.2.2]octane bis(tetrafluoroborate) (Selectfluor, F-TEDA-BF 4 ). Iodine atoms were progressively introduced at the most electron-rich and sterically less hindered position on the benzene ring. Not more than

Triplet diphenylcarbene 31a is generated from the precursor and is characterized by UV–Vis spectroscopy at lowtemperature and laser flash photolysis (LFP) techniques at roomtemperature. Irradiation of 1a‐N2 in a 2‐methyltetrahydrofuran (2‐MTHF) matrix at 77 K gives the UV–Vis spectrum of 31a, but ESR signals that can be assigned to a triplet species are not detected. The

A D3h-Symmetric Macrocycle Alternatingly Composed of Pyridine and Benzyl Alcohol Units Linked with Acetylene Bonds

A macrocyclic compound alternatingly composed of three pyridine and three benzyl alcohol units linked with acetylene bonds was developed as a new type of D-3h-symmetric hexagonal shape-persistent macrocycles with a host function. The macrocycle was prepared via several steps of Sonogashira reaction and proved to interact with halide anions, especially chloride on the basis of H-1 NMR studies.
