Iodosobenzenetetrafluoroborate 1 ha been prepared by the reaction of PhI(OAc)2 and aquenous HBF4, and its reactions with alkenes, silyl enol ethers, and acetylenes have been studied.
The photooxidation of phenylcyclopropane, styrene, and indene using 9,10-dicyanoanthracene-Cu(BF4)2 sensitizer system in acetonitrile-alcohol(3:1) solutions affords the corresponding 1,3-dialkoxy and 1,2-dialkoxy compounds.

A new simple approach to omega-benzoylalkanals, 2-(omega-formylalkyl)benzaldehydes, and their monoacetals was developed based on direct anodic oxidation of 1-phenylcycloalkenes and benzo[c]cycloalkenes in methanol followed by acid hydrolysis of the electrolysis products. The target products are obtained in 53-72 % yields.
