Thiols added easily to acetylenic compounds in the presence of Et3B to give alkenyl sulfides in good yields. The reaction of acetylenes with 3-methyl-2-buten-1-thio1 gave dihydro-thiophene derivatives in one pot.
Vinylic chalcogenides were synthesized stereospecifically by hydrochalcogenation of propargylic amines or alcohols mediated by cerium(III) chloride. Synthesis of oxazino[4,3-a]indoles by domino addition-cyclization reactions of (1H-indol-2-yl)methanols and vinyl selenones in the presence of 18-crown-6
Herein we report the synthesis of biologically relevant oxazino[4,3-a]indoles by an environmentally friendly Michael addition-cyclization cascade using potassium hydroxide in dichloromethane employing variously substituted vinyl selenones and (1H-indol-2yl)methanols. The addition of 18-crown-6, as a complexing agent, is crucial to achieve high chemo- and regio-selectivity.

High selectivity and good yields in the catalytic addition of thiols and selenols to alkynes were observed for Ni and Pd chalcogenide catalyst particles with high degree of ordering, whereas direct correlation with size and shape of the particles was not identified.
