A method for the Pd-catalyzed carbonylation of aryl bromides has been developed usingXantphos as the ligand. This method is effective for the direct synthesis of Weinreb amides, primary and secondary benzamides, and methyl esters from the corresponding aryl bromides at atmosphericpressure.
