Organoselenides catalyze the oxidation of halides by H2O2. Furthermore, these selenides catalyze the transfer of oxidized halogens from N-halosuccinimides to olefins and ketones. Thus, organoselenides catalyze oxidative halogenation reactions including halolactonization, α-halogenation of ketones, and allylic halogenation.
