Benzonitriles and cyanofluorenes have been rapidly obtained via the [3 + 3] benzannulation of readily available alkynones and α-cyanocrotonates using KOtBu as the only reagent and EtOH (and CO2) is the only by-product.

The phosphine-free heterogeneous coupling of acyl chlorides with terminalalkynes was achieved in triethylamine at 50 °C in the presence of a 0.2 mol% 3-(2-aminoethylamino)propyl-functionalized MCM-41-immobilized palladium complex [MCM-41-2N-Pd(OAc)2], yielding a variety of ynones in good to excellent yields. This novel heterogeneous palladiumcatalyst can be conveniently prepared from commercially

strategy for the synthesis of tetrasubstituted olefins has been developed. This procedure is realized by a formal C–C σ-bond cleavage reaction of cyclic α,α-dithioketones and subsequent deprotection. Notable features of this approach include excellent yields, mild reaction conditions, a broad substrate scope, and operational simplicity.
This invention relates to 1-phenyl-3-aryl-2-propyne-1-ones, the use of these compounds as calcium uptake inhibitors in leukocytes and thrombocytes, and pharmaceutical compositions containing these compounds as active ingredients, and the process of their preparation.
NHC-Catalyzed Formal [4 + 2] Annulation of o-Formyl-Tethered Michael Acceptors and Ynones to Access Highly Functionalized Naphthalene Derivatives
Herein we demonstrate a novel organocatalytic method to access multifunctionalized naphthalenes via an NHC-catalyzed reaction of ynones and o-formyl-tethered Michael acceptors. The presented method proceeds through an intermolecular Stetter reaction–cyclization–aromatization cascade and represents a rare example of organocatalytic benzannulation for the synthesis of substituted arenes by using ynone
